WHAT YOU ARE IN FOR

HERE ARE SOME FACTS / HIER EIN PAAR FAKTEN

- Birgit and Greg will marry on 7 July 2007.
- Birgit und Greg heiraten am 7. Juli 2007.

- We will do it in Ruethen (Birgit's home town) in the old town hall (see photo, below).
- Wir machen das im Rüthen (siehe Link, oben rechts) im Alten Rathaus (siehe Foto, unten).

- We will party the same day, with our guests, in Haus Welschenbeck (see link, above right, in German, and photo below).

IF YOU ARE FLYING TO GERMANY FOR THE WEDDING (walkers should stop reading now and hit the road, because it is a long way from wherever you are) your airport options are as follows:

- FRANKFURT is the biggest airport around and a safe bet for the cheapest, but it is a few hours from the wedding location. This is fine if you've got other things you want to do while you are here, and arrangements can be made (or at least promised) to aid you in your travels.
- AMSTERDAM is not in Germany, but is no further away from Ruethen than is Frankfurt and has a big airport.
- DUESSELDORF has a biggish airport, and it is closer to Ruethen than Frankfurt or Amsterdam.
- DORTMUND and PADERBORN both have small airports but may be an option (via connections). Both are very close to Ruethen.

* You will need a valid passport.
* You will need Euros (do NOT buy more than a few before you get here, or you will pay too much). * You can't bring a dog.
* You can use Visa and Mastercard widely, and bank cards using Cirrus, Plus, and similar systems work.
* Travelers checks are, in my opinion, a waste of money.
* Don't mention the war.
* Everything is connected by cheap and efficient public transportation (trains, subways, buses, and this thing:

) but you can also rent a car. I will post more about this as I learn more.
* There are lots of interesting things to see and do within a very short distance of Ruethen (including Amsterdam, which is a shockingly short drive from where I sit right now), so why not plan on a big visit?

More soon.

WILKOMMEN, BIENVENUE, WELCOME.

This is what it appears to be. And this is a test. And this is a picture of the happy couple.
